The same day Positive Living Niagara announced it had secured provincial funding for the region's first supervised drug injection site, comes word the Ford government is revisiting funding of the sites.
Health Minister Christine Elliot announcing the government will review the sites to determine if they have merit and whether it is worth continuing funding them.
During the spring election, Premier Doug Ford said he was opposed to the program.
Yesterday, Positive Living Niagara Executive Director Glen Walker told CKTB News, a six month funding agreement has been reached with the Ontario government and they are now hiring to get the overdose prevention centre up and running for September.
The site will be located at 120 Queenston Street in St. Catharines.
