Premier Kathleen Wynne was at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children this morning to tout her government's changes to hospital parking rates.
The changes that took effect on Saturday require hospitals that charge more than 10-dollars per day for parking to offer discounted passes to frequent visitors that effectively cut the daily maximum rate by at least half.
The five, 10 and 30 day passes are transferrable among patients and caregivers and are valid for up to a year for consecutive or non-consecutive days.
Wynne says the change will help people in their daily lives because the cost of parking can add up quickly for anyone needing to go to a hospital for a series of treatments, or to visit a loved one.
The Niagara Health System released their new parking fee structure to accomodate frequent visitors on Friday.
