5.4 million dollars in provincial funding will help the region try to tackle homelessness in Niagara.
The money will be doled out over three years are part of the 'Home for Good' program and is expected to fund 23 new supporting housing units, 40 community based units, and support 63 people in need.
Regional Chair Alan Caslin says, "Addressing the needs of Niagara’s homeless has been a priority for Regional Council this term. We developed a robust, innovative proposal and met with provincial officials to make sure Niagara’s voice was heard. Our ongoing efforts are paying dividends for Niagara. Our need for supportive housing to help those who have been chronically homeless is being recognized and addressed through the Home For Good program."
