The Ontario government is pledging full support to the people of Ottawa impacted by twin tornadoes.
Premier Doug Ford toured through the devastated neighbourhood of Dunrobin yesterday, meeting with officials and thanking the first responders who have been working around the clock since the storms pummelled the area on Friday.
51 homes were either damaged or destroyed.
According to Environment Canada, a powerful EF3 twister with winds up to 265 km/h ripped through the neighbourhood while a second, less powerful storm spawned in a south Ottawa neighbourhood.
Nepean MPP and Minister of Children, Community and Social Services Lisa MacLeod also tweeted out 'Residents of Ottawa impacted by the Tornado & power outage - your Ontario government has enacted the Disaster Assistance program to support you with disaster related costs, following an insurance claim.'
