A public meeting is set for tonight in West Lincoln to hear from proponents for a possible medicinal marijuana facility to be located in the township.
Mayor Doug Joyner says a company wants to start the process and tonight's meeting will hear more about the application and also give residents a chance to voice their opinion and have their questions answered.
Joyner says the township anticipated this type of application in 2014 and made changes their existing by-laws putting in specifics that they wanted potential proponents to follow.
The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at the township's administrative office in Smithville.
Earlier this month Up Cannabis Incorporated announced plans to acquire a greenhouse facility from Westbrook Greenhouses in Grimsby for a similar facility.
That deal is worth approximately $7.3 million.
