Today is the day tighter restrictions go into effect in two of Quebec's largest cities, Montreal and Quebec City plus an area south of the provincial capital.
For the next 28 days, bars and restaurants will be closed except for takeout.
Private gatherings will be limited to household members only and the province has given police the ability to quickly obtain warrants to enter people's homes if they suspect an illegal get together.
The Premier says if people invite guests for a party, they will be breaking the law.
Anyone caught violating the rule will be fined $1,000.
