Employees at more than 400 Quebec Liquor Corp. outlets across the province are holding a one-day strike as contract talks continue.
It's the first of six strike days their union has planned to pressure their employer, the Quebec government.
The walkout is affecting most of the province's liquor outlets, but management is being used to keep 60 outlets open.
The workers voted last month 91 per cent in favour of the one-day strikes that are to take place at the opportune moment.
The 5,500 unionized workers have been without a contract since March 31, 2017, but negotiations have been ongoing for 16 months.
Negotiations have proven difficult over the issue of weekend work hours and conditions of part-time employees.
