After fielding several calls from listeners who wanted to know when the southbound ramp from the 406 to Highway 58 would reopen, we went to one of our local MPP's for help.
Several calls/emails to the Ministry of Transport failed to elicit a response, so the office of Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates helped us out.
In an email, the MPP's Consistuency Assistant tells us, the MTO now says the ramp will be closed until sometime in December when construction is expected to be complete.
The MTO says the ramp was suddenly closed late this summer, after the bridge became unbalanced and leaned to one side when crews removed the ashphalt and concrete
Drivers heading from St. Catharines to Thorold or Niagara Falls will have to continue to take the St David's Road East exit until work on the bridge wraps up.
