Starting today you may notice quite a few guys in Niagara growing out (or at least trying to grow out) moustaches as the annual Movember campaign kicks off.
Throughout the month of November, men will be showcasing their best attempts at facial hair to promote men's health.
The movement zeroes in on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health - three areas that have historically been difficult for some men to talk about.
Niagara In The Morning host Tim Denis recently completed surgery after being diagnosed with prostate cancer and encourages men to get screened and urges all people to get involved.
"If Movember does anything else, maybe its the other people in their lives. Their friends, and their girlfriends, and boyfriends, and wives that can get on them and say now is the time! Just bloody well do it."
Movember organizers say they aim to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25% by 2030.
Early detection can be key to beating both prostate and testicular cancers.
