Both the Niagara Region and the Niagara Police Services Board are coming to the aid of the Grimsby Auxiliary Marine Unit.
Regional government and the police service have announced a donation of one thousand dollars to help GAMRU buy a new Zodiac inflatable boat.
The volunteer unit's only Zodiac was heavily damaged in August during a rescue mission.
The unit, which is the only volunteer unit to perform search and rescue service on the south shore of Lake Ontario, has been fundraising in order to buy a 22 foot inflatable Zodiac Hurricane.
In a release the members of the unit, thank Chief Jeff McGuire for helping make the donation possible.
