A Freedom of Information Request by the St. Catharines Standard of regional council expense accounts has been denied.
Reporter Grant LaFleche says they received a letter yesterday denying the request for the accounts from the current term.
LaFleche says the letter explained the request was denied because those expense records are going to be released publically.
He adds of particular note, before they received the letter, they were asked to put their FOI on hold, because Chair Caslin had filed his own, five days after the Standard had filed.
LaFleche says Caslin's request is far more detailed, and includes all renumeration reports for 20 years.
The reporter says they will appeal the decision to the province.
He adds the Standard has also asked councillors to voluntarily release their expenses, and so far they have only heard from St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik, Pelham Mayor Dave Augustyn as well as Councillor's Tony Quirk and Debbie MacGregor.
