Despite being handed a petition, signed by the majority of regional councillors on Sunday, Niagara's Regional Clerk has yet to schedule a special meeting.
Councillors are demanding a special meeting to discuss and hopefully resolve the ongoing controversy surrounding the hiring process used for Region's chief administrative officer Carmen D'Angelo.
St. Catharines Councillor Kelly Edgar says public trust has eroded and the current state of affairs is embarrassing.
Edgar says the clerk has 48 hours to call the meeting once she was given the petition.
The Region's bylaws and provincial law requires Anne-Marie Norio's office to call the meeting by today.
