A move to add another councillor to Niagara Regional government is now in the hands of the province's Municipal Affairs Minister.
The region has forwarded a resolution to Minister Bill Mauro approving an additional councillor from the township of West Lincoln.
In a letter to the Minister, the region asks that a decision be made by the end of the year in time for the 2018 municipal elections.
If approved regional council would consist of 19 elected representatives along with the 12 elected mayors and one regional chair.
