Niagara Regional Council will meet in special session this afternoon to discuss last week's ombudsman report.
Paul Dube's report focused on the seizure of a Standard reporter's laptop during a closed door session of council last December.
Dube found regional officials, rushed to judgement, and in doing so acted in a manner the courts have consistently found to be a violation of charter rights.
He made a long list of recomendations designed to prevent a similiar incident from happening.
But Dube also censured an external lawyer hired by the region for attempting to influence his investigation.
It is this accusation, St. Catharines mayor Walter Sendzik will focus on this afternoon.
Sendzik says "when you start reading words like influence and trying to change reports, those are red flags."
He adds that will be the focus of his questioning today because he wants to know how the external lawyer was chosen.
The meeting gets underway in regional council chambers at 4:30, a portion of the meeting will be held behind closed doors.
