Members of the region's Burgoyne Bridge audit task force got a look yesterday at a report into why the cost of the project spiralled out of control, but the public is still being kept in the dark.
The committee members went behind closed doors yesterday to review the report, which task force chair Tony Quirk emphasized was only a preliminary report on the multi million dollar project.
Council hired an outside firm to conduct the audit after the cost of building the downtown St. Catharines bridge soared from $45 million to $93 million..
Quirk says a final report is expected in March.
A value for money audit on the bridge build last year revealed concerns over missing documents, a poor procurement process and a lack of transparency.
