We are learning more about a 12 year old girl who lost her life swimming in Fort Erie on Friday afternoon.
Caty Winfield Butsch, from Buffalo New York was pulled from the water at Crescent Beach and could not be revived.
Investigators believe she may have suffered a medical event in the water and foul play is not suspected.
The girl's family says Caty was full of life, and happy and enthusiastic about anything that she tackled from crafts to knitting to lacrosse to basketball to thumbwrestling.
They said she ran toward life with the speed of a gazelle never looking back.
She is survived by her parents and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up in Caty’s name at her beloved school, Elmwood Franklin, Buffalo, NY, or as a donation to the Poor Claires Monastery of Cleveland Ohio.
