Niagara Region's Acting CAO is recommending council hold off on finding a permanent replacement.
Ron Tripp has been in the role since former CAO Carmen D'Angleo took a leave of absence in December before D'Angelo eventually resigned two months ago.
In a report to council, Tripp offers two options moving forward:
Form a committee and launch the selection process, or allow him to continue in the post until the provincial governance review wrap up and an Ombudsman's investigation into D'Angelo's hiring is finished.
There's no word yet as to when the Ombudsman's report will come out.
In the meantime, Tripp recommends holding off on hiring a permanent CAO until this fall, saying he 'continues to make decisions in the best interest of the organization, not just 'keeping the lights on.'
