As the Ford government continues to cut spending to lower the province's deficit, there's word this morning, cuts to OHIP are on the horizon.
City TV reporting it has learned the Tories are looking to find a half billion dollars in savings from within OHIP.
Government documents estimate about 30 percent of medical services are unnecessary and inappropriate.
28 services could be cut, including MRI's for knee problems in middle aged people, diabetes management, echocardiograms, tonsillectomies, and sedation during colonoscopies.
Caps could be placed on other services.
For example, the government may limit peripheral nerve blocking shots to just 16 a year for those in chronic pain.
The government will only say it will continue to put patients at the centre of the discussion.
