An animal rescue group has launched a petition calling for the OSPCA to reopen the case at the Merritt Road cat hoarding house.
Beamsville 4 Paw Rescue wants charges laid and a change to the judicial system after more than one hundred live cats and about 150 dead felines were found on the property at the end of last month.
The petition also aims to remove the Lincoln County Humane Society from all animal cruelty investigations in the Niagara Region and stop the organization from serving as Grimsby's animal control agency.
LCHS executive director Kevin Strooband tells Post Media “Because this group is not pleased with our decision to date, they want to change the policing of animals in their jurisdiction, which isn’t appropriate."
The rescue group came under fire by the OSPCA for removing evidence from the property and not turning it over to authorities.
But the OSPCA investigation began last December and the rescue groups argue they were only on scene the last few weeks.
