A retired teacher from Beamsville, and father of two, says he will buy a cell phone after winning 1M in the lottery.

A retired teacher from Beamsville, and father of two, says he will buy a cell phone after winning $1M in the lottery.

James Leavens won a Maxmillions prize in the January 7, 2020 LOTTO MAX draw.

He matched seven of seven numbers to win the prize.

This is a first-time major win for the married, father of two.

“I scanned my ticket while at a grocery store and thought I had won $100,” he smiled, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque.

“I’d like to buy a smartphone because my phone hangs on the wall,” the retiree laughed.

The winning ticket was purchased at Sobeys on Ontario Street in Beamsville.
