Work continues on the $920,000 revitalization of Centennial Gardens in St. Catharines.
This week crews will be working on a new staircase, trail improvements, and a sun shelter.
The Gale Crescent staircase will be temporarily closed while the staircase is replaced and access to portions of the disc golf course will be limited.
Parts of the Merritt Trail will be closed from time to time for ongoing work as well.
The park, community garden, and parking lot will still be available to the community.
The federal government, the City of St. Catharines, and the Niagara Region have all chipped in to help fund the project: The Government of Canada contributed $385,000 through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, the city matched the federal government funding, and the Niagara Region contributed up to $150,000 through the Waterfront Investment Program.
