If you haven't noticed yet, construction season is underway in Niagara.
The region has already started the 2017 season of road construction activities.
Each year, Niagara undertakes an extensive road and road infrastructure improvement program aimed at the reconstruction, rehabilitation and repaving of roadways throughout Niagara.
This year alone, $60 million will be spent on the program, with more than 70 lane kilometres of roads to be resurfaced.
This year the Region has eight road reconstruction projects across Niagara underway that will see deteriorating roads rebuilt, repaved and refreshed.
They include Glendale Avenue (Regional Road 89) between Tremont Drive and Burleigh Hill in St. Catharines, Niagara Stone Road (Regional Road 55) between Concession 6 and Four Mile Creek Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and McLeod Road (Regional Road 49) between Pin Oak Drive and the Hydro Electric Power Canal in Niagara Falls.
Niagara also undertaking road planning, design and Environmental Assessment studies on a number of roadways including Martindale Road (Regional Road 38) from Fourth Avenue (Regional Road 77) to the QEW, and Creek Road (Regional Road 45) from Wellandport Road (Regional Road 4) to Canborough Road (Regional Road 63).
