After close to 20 years in Niagara, PoultryFest has been cancelled.
The annual festival in West Niagara ran for 18 years, most recently at the West Niagara Agricultural grounds.
Its board of directors says that times have changed and it is a big strain on volunteers.
The last PoultryFest was in June and had a Canada 150 theme.
Its Facebook page included a message to residents:
Organizers said they want to thank all of their sponsors, volunteers and participants over the years, many who stayed with the festival from the beginning. While there will be no festival in 2018, the board did announce PoultryFest will be participating in the 2017 Santa Claus Parades in Smithville and Grimsby, as a way to say thanks to supporters, sponsors and festival guests.
