Hamilton Public Health are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella at a Stoney Creek restaurant.
The Ole Gourmet restaurant is now closed after four people have been confirmed with salmonella after eating at the restaurant.
Public health officicals first closed the restaurant on May 17th after a report of salmonella.
After an inspection on May 18th a re-inspection of the restaurant occurred and it appeared to be compliant with Ontario’s Food Premises regulation, and the restaurant was allowed to re-open.
Due to an additional human case of Salmonella being reported on May 22, Public Health Inspectors performed an additional inspection that included the collection of 10 food samples, three of which have been reported positive for contamination with Salmonella.
Anyone who may have eaten at the restaurant from May 4 th onward with symptoms of Salmonella are being urged to seek medical attention.
Symptoms include fever, chills, sudden headache, stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea and sometimes vomiting.
Most people recover from Salmonella without further complications.
