A tragic weekend for a local family after a 29 year old Niagara Falls woman fell into the Niagara River while hiking.
Police say they were called to the Niagara Gorge on Friday afternoon at 3pm where it appears the woman fell into the Niagara River.
Alicia Kirkwood's body has not been located.
NRP say the area was searched by helicopter and jet boat as well as by foot until dark, with the search continued into Saturday with negative results.
A search is planned for tomorrow morning, with police asking any residents participating to be cautious, as areas of the Niagara Glen can be perilous.
A friend of Kirkwood has planned the search party to take place Wednesday at 10 a.m., starting at the metal stairs leading to the gorge.
