A police cruiser and two Lincoln County Humane Society vehicles were at the Skyway Animal hospital in St. Catharines earlier today.
The LCHS was executing a search warrant at the facility.
The local humane society began an investigation over a month ago into the owner of the hospital.
Doctor Mahavir Rekhi had his license suspended earlier this year by the Ontario College of Veterinarians for abusing animals in his care.
So far, no charges have been laid by the LCHS and officials would not comment on the investigation.
“We are being very thorough with our investigation process and we can’t speculate on when this investigation is completed. We appreciate the public’s patience while we continue to address the evidence and concerns brought forth.” said Ontario SPCA Inspector Kevin Strooband.
Rekhi is planning to reopen his clinic in February when his suspension is lifted.
