Even though the company is closing and liquidation sales are set to begin today, there's word Sears is paying a final $2.8 million in retention bonuses to 36 senior managers.
All toll the bankrupt retailer will pay bonuses over more than $6 million to head office staff since it filed for insolvency in June.
This comes as thousands of its workers get let go with no severance pay.
Former workers can apply for money from a hardship fund created in August.
Yahoo Finance reporting company chairman Brandon Stranzl donated the fund's entire amount of $500,000, from the retention bonus he received before he stepped down from his job this week.
