A big blow for Marineland.
The Senate has passed a bill that will outlaw keeping whales and dolphins in captivity.
The bill first introduced back in 2015, finally cleared the Red Chamber last night after nearly three years of debate and study.
It will now be shuttled through the House of Commons where it will be sponsored by Green Party leader Elizabeth May.
The Senate bill would, through the breeding ban, phase out captivity over time.
Marineland owner Jon Holer testified against the bill before the Senate commitee prior to his death last summer.
The bill means, places like Marineland will still be able to keep it's current stock of whales and dophins but won't be able to breed or bring more in.
