Two women suffered serious injuries following a crash in Pelham.
Niagara Regional Police say it happened just before 11 o'clock last night on Rolland Road near Sulpher Springs Drive.
Police say the male driver was unable to negotiate a curve, lost control and struck a tree causing the vehicle to burst into flames.
He managed to exit the vehicle on his own, but two female passengers had to be rescused from the burning vehicle by a local resident and passing motorist.
A 19 year old female passenger from Thorold sustained serious injuries to her lower body, the second female passenger, a 19 year old from Pelham sustained critical, but nonlife threatening injuries.
All three were transported to local hospital, the Pelham woman has since been sent to an out of region trauma centre.
Police have charged 19 year old Benjamin Wayda of Pelham with impaired driving causing bodily harm.
He's been released from custody and will appear in court in December.
