Child-exploitation experts have detected a spike in online ``sextortion'' cases involving teenaged boys as victims.
The Winnipeg-based Canadian Centre for Child Protection says 65 boys reported incidents to Cybertip-dot-c-a in 2015 and 2016, an increase of 89 per cent increase from the previous two-year period.
Executive director Lianna McDonald says the jump clearly establishes boys as increasingly at risk of online threats.
The centre is launching its first awareness and prevention campaign for young males today.
