A broadcasting legend has died.
Former St. Catharines radio personalityScruff Connors passed away yesterday at the age of 64.
Connors was the morning man at CKTB's sister station 97.7 HTZ-FM from 1989 until 1992.
He was best known for conducting controversial on-air practical jokes.
One of his most notorious stunts, came during a 1990 broadcast at HTZ when he announced the "new kids" would appear at the station the following day.
Popular boy band The New Kids on the Block were slated to play Hamilton later that week, and while the pop music wasn't aired on HTZ, hundreds of fans of the boy band showed up at the station expecting to see them.
However, Connors had arranged for limos to arrive at the station containing several new moms and their babies.
