Should you have to pay to enjoy a day at Bay Beach in Fort Erie?
Maureen Woods from the Crystal Beach Advisory Committee is suggesting a $5 dollar charge to enter the popular Lake Erie beach.
She says it will help with crowd control following a very busy 2018 summer season which made headlines for various reasons including people defecating on the beach due to the lack of bathroom facilities.
Woods says new washrooms will be ready for the 2019 season.
A splash pad and pavilion will also be open for this summer.
She wants people to have a more enjoyable beach experience saying it was so busy last year many couldn't find a spot to sit and enjoy.
Woods says over 6500 people flooded the beach on some days last year, and the beach is only equipped to handle 3000.
Woods is suggesting a $5 admission for adults, children 16 and under would be free, and Fort Erie residents would also be free given they show ID.
