Canada captain Christine Sinclair is retiring from international soccer at the end of the year.
Sinclair, who is the world's all-time scorer with 190 international goals, says the time is right.
The 40-year-old from Burnaby, B-C, plans to play one more season with her club team, the NWSL's Portland Thorns, next year but will call it quits for Canada in December.
Sinclair is expected to play four more games for Canada, starting with two friendlies later this month against Brazil in Montreal and Halifax.
Canada Soccer is expected to announce two more home games in the international window that runs from late November to early December. A source said one of those games will be in Vancouver against Australia, with the second expected to be in the same region.
Sinclair made her senior debut in 2000 at the age of 16. She has been the face of Canadian soccer ever since.
