We've been dodging the weather bullet so to speak, but you know winter is on its way when Buffalo's southtowns are forecast to get their first blast of heavy snow.
The National Weather Service forecasting ski country could get hit with 3 feet of lake effect snow starting Thursday into Friday.
The weather office has already posted a snowfall warning for the region.
Officials with Holiday Valley in Ellicotville says if that's the case some lifts could open Friday.
But for now it looks like the snow will stay in the traditional snow belt areas.
Buffalo is forecast to get 2 to 3 inches by the end of the week.
For us , there's a 40 percent chance of flurries.
