Working smoke alarms are being credited with saving another life in Port Colborne after a house fire on Bell Street.
When crews arrived on scene around 2 a.m. yesterday morning, flames could already be seen jutting out of the first and second floor windows.
Thankfully, the only resident in the home was able to escape in time.
Damage at 91 Bell Street is estimated at $200,000, with an additional $20,000 worth of damage done to a neighbouring home as the heat of the flames melting the siding.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
