Six Liberal M-Ps will ultimately decide whether the Commons ethics committee hears more about the SNC Lavalin affair.
Conservative and New Democrat members of the committee pushed for today's emergency meeting in Ottawa to debateĀ whether to dig deeper into last week's findings by the ethics commissioner that Prime Minister Trudeau violated the Conflict of Interest Act on the SNC file.
But the Liberals hold a majority on the 10-member committee and aren't likley to want to keep the controversy in the headlines with the October election looming.
Trudeau has insisted he was acting to protect Canadian jobs and suggests voters want to move on.
