A number of Niagara muncipalities announcing they will be taking a precautionary approach to todays solar eclipse.

A number of Niagara muncipalities announcing they will be taking a precautionary approach to todays solar eclipse.

The city of Welland and the town of Pelham closing public pools between 1:00 and 4:00 today as Niagara observes a partial solar eclipse.

The closures are meant to prevent kids from viewing the eclipse who arent wearing protective eyeglasses.

The Niagara YMCA says it will be modifying some activities from 1-4 pm as well.

Among  the measures, all kids at its Child Care Centres will be kept indoors and day camps will have indoor activities.

Any outdoor swimming activities will be rescheduled to another day during camp week.

The splash pad at Walker Family YMCA will also be closed from 1:00 to 4:00 as well.
