Another day, another shocking report in the St. Catharines Standard on the behind the scenes antics at the Niagara Region.
Last week, Regional Chair Alan Caslin admitted he unilaterally extended the contract for controversial CAO Carmen D'Angelo by three years to 2022.
But now sources tell the paper, Caslin also threw in a golden parachute.
They say if D'Angelo's contract is not renewed in 2022, then he will receive a full year's salary worth more than $230,000.
The latest revelation comes just after council voted last Thursday to request the province's ombudsman investigate the hiring of D'Angelo amid allegations he was given information about the hiring process, including the names of other candidates by staff in Caslin's office.
