Snowsqualls are continuing to batter Niagara Falls and south Niagara.
White out and blizzard conditions are hampering travel.
South of the border the lake effect snow is forcing officials in Buffalo to issue travel advisories for both Buffalo and all of northern Erie County.
Tractor trailers and busses are being banned from some interstate routes, and the New York State thruway is as of 8 p.m. tonight.
Several flights have been cancelled out of Buffalo Niagara Airport.
The lake effect snow which is hammering South Niagara right now is expected to stick around overnight but clear mostly into the Buffalo area by late tomorrow morning.
Tyler Hamilton from the Weather Network says the icey temperatures will actually help freeze Lake Erie and help clear out some of the lake effect snow.
Below are the affected routes south of the border.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said that tractor trailers and commercial buses will be banned from the following state routes at 8:00 pm on Tuesday:
I-190
I-290
NY 400
US 219 from Peters Rd to I-90
NY 5 from NY 179 to I-190
Thruway from Exit 46 to PA line
