Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Niagara Region warning of significant rainfall tonight.
It's the third weekend in a row that the region has been under a special weather watch.
The weather office says the rain will start late this afternoon or early this evening then taper off and change to snow Saturday night.
We could see 15-to-25 mm of rain before the change.
Forecasters say the frozen ground and thin snowpack will have a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall so local ponding on streets is possible.
