The Springlicious Committee is extending apologies following an early closure on its first day of the year.
Niagara Regional Police closed the event at 9:00 pm - two hours early - due to fighting and ''unfortunate actions of some of the young people in attendance" at this year's School-a-Palooza.
School-a-Palooza is an event started in 2008 by the Mayor's Youth Advisory Commitee and is highly anticipated by high school students, with an estimated 3500 in attendance on Friday.
Despite success in past years, Mayor Jim Diodati does acknolwedge the challenges of a gathering of this scale.
''I support the safe and supervised gathering of youth in our City. Unfortunately it only takes a few, to ruin a great thing for others. We are committed to re-evaluating the event to determine where [to] go from here."
A security team is in place at the festival, made up of contracted security service, as well as pay-duty police officers, auxiliary police officers and adult volunteers.
Despite the unplanned closure on Friday, Event Coordinator Zoran Madek is feeling positive about the remainder of the festival.
''Thank you to all of the event's volunteers. We are excited for the next two days of events and look forward to seeing residents of Niagara Falls out to enjoy Springlicious with us!"
