It was a soggy start to the new year for some Niagara College students.
A fire alarm went off on Tuesday morning around 11:15 a.m. after sprinkler pipes burst at the Welland campus's new gym lab.
The area was blocked for clean up and repairs.
The Welland Tribune is reporting the damage comes in at about $2,500, mostly to some drywall in the gym.
Cold temperatures are being blamed for a crack in the pipe.
