Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm is partnering with the city of St Catharines aiming to protect the environment and address declining honey bee populations.
The initiative will feature the installation of beehives at Happy Rolph’s.
Seven beehives will be placed on the west side of the pond away from park-goers so that residents and bees can safely share the park.
Any honey that’s extracted will go towards Small Scale Farms’ food assistance program.
St. Catharines was one of the first municipalities to be named a Bee City because of its continued work to protect pollinators.
