St. Catharines is banning all non-Niagara residents from its beaches effective immediately.
The move is in response to over-crowding issues during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Councillors met behind closed doors last night to discuss legal implications of the move and emerged voting in favour of the immediate ban.
Council also agreed to increase parking fines at city beaches and Morningstar Mill for the summer months.
The normal $30 dollar parking ticket will now cost you $100.
City staff reporting more than 300 tickets have been handed out so far this season.
