A company in St. Catharines is trying to launch a commuter hovercraft service across Lake Ontario, but there's one main hurdle in the way.
St. Catharines city council approved the hovercraft startup in principle this week.
But in Toronto, the port authority is concerned about noise in the waterfront communities.
PortsToronto has no intention at the moment to move forward with the plan.
Company founder Bruno Caciagli says that he will keep pushing, and that with all the approvals, the service could start as soon as nine months from now.
He says a hovercraft journey from St. Catharines to Toronto would take around 40 minutes.
