When you see the new loonies next year, you can brag about St.Catharines.
The one-dollar coin marking Canada’s 150th anniversary was designed by St. Catharines’ own Wesley Klassen.
His design was selected out of thousands who participated in the Mint’s "My Canada, My Inspiration" coin design contest.

Klassen says his design is inspired by his family vacations.
It features the Lion's Gate Bridge, a prairie grain elevator, the CN tower, Chateau Frontenac, and an East Coast lighthouse.
He says the images are in one way or another connected to the railroad.
The coin features two trains, one from the past and one from the future.
