City staff want to hear from St. Catharines residents as officials draft a by-law regulating trees on private property.
A series of open houses will be held to collect input on how best to manage the Garden City's canopy.
The bylaw would protect trees designated as 'significant' by council, heritage trees as specified by the Ontario Heritage Act, and deciduous trees greater than 30 cm in diameter and coniferous trees greater than 20 cm in diameter.
The first open house is May 1st from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Kiwanis Aquatics Centre, the second is May 6th from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Port Weller Community Centre, and the third is May 7th from 6-8 p.m. at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre.
An online survey is also available for anyone who can't make it to the meetings.
