St. Catharines City council is expected to discuss a proposal to install safety features on bridges in Niagara during tonight's meeting.
Councillor Mat Siscoe will be putting forth a motion requesting regional council look into installing safety barriers or netting to prevent suicides.
"At the end of the day, most people understand this is really a Band-Aid. We're trying to put a Band-Aid on and give people additional time before they make a drastic decision to seek help."
This comes after two men died by suicide at the Burgoyne Bridge in St. Catharines last month.
Following the deaths, signs with crisis hotline information were installed near the bridge.
