Hunting through thrift shops is a passion for many, but for one St. Catharines couple, it has become a frantic search.
Linda James knows it's a long shot, but she hopes someone will come forward with a stash of very important jewellery.
She tells Niagara This Week she had hidden some jewellery in her husband's socks before the pair left on vacation.
When she finally went to retrieve the treasures, they were gone.
It was then that she remembered they had recently dropped off a clothing donation that may have included the socks, with the secret stash of gold and diamonds inside.
The couple regularly donates clothes to local thrift shops, but they can't remember where the last donation went according to the paper.
Among the missing jewelry, a white gold amethyst ring, a black Alaskan diamond ring she's had since she was a teenager, a yellow gold wedding band, and two pairs of diamond earrings.
James says they checked their usual donation spots, St. Vincent de Paul Society Store, Bibles for Missions and the Christian Benefit Shop, but there was no sign of the valuable items.
