Little Henry Adams of St. Catharines is living with allergies so severe they could be fatal.
Mother Rita Adams says the first symptoms showed up while breastfeeding, but switching to rice cereal resulted in a reaction so strong it sent the baby into shock.
"It was intense seeing your child be so lethargic and go pale to the point where you don't know what's going on."
The condition is called FPIES; it's an immune reaction to a variety of foods resulting in profuse vomiting and diarrhea. The extremely rare condition effects 1 in 10,000 people.
Less than a teaspoon of food can trigger an episode.
"We don't know the food until he actually consumes it," Adams says.
So far, the family has documented more than 20 allergies.
They are trying an alternative treatment called Bioresonance Therapy, but it's pricey.
A Go Fund Me page called 'Henry's Allergy Treatment' has been set up to help cover the cost.
